Self-hosted edition
First-time setup and your license
ApacheWatch self-hosted needs a registered license before it starts monitoring. Until then every page shows the setup wizard, and agents are refused.
1. Enter the setup code
The wizard first asks for the setup code printed when you installed the package (see Installing).
2. Register a license
Choose one:
- Free license — enter your name, company and work email. You receive an email with a one-time link; open it and click Show my license key, then paste the key into the wizard. The link works once and expires after 24 hours. The key itself is never sent by email. A free license monitors 1 instance and runs on one installation at a time.
- Paid license — paste the key you received from us. Starter, Professional and Enterprise licenses raise the instance limit and unlock the features of that plan (see Pricing).
The server activates the key with the license server
(devapex.cinnamonsservices.com, HTTPS) and then checks in every 12 hours. If
it cannot reach the license server it keeps running for 48 hours, then pauses
until the connection is back.
3. Create the first administrator
Pick a username and a password of at least 10 characters. This account has the admin role; you can add more users afterwards (see Users and sign-in).
That's it — you land on the dashboard. Next: connect your first agent.
Moving to another server
A license is tied to one running installation. Removing the package
(dnf remove apache-monitor) or stopping the service releases it, so you can activate
the same key on the new server straight away. Your data in /var/lib/apache-monitor
is kept on removal — copy it across to keep users and history.
Changing the license key
Admins can replace the key in Settings (License) — for example after upgrading from Free to a paid plan. The new limits apply immediately.
