Connecting agents
Install the apache-agent package on every Apache httpd server you want to
monitor. The agent reports out to the server, and the server also connects in to the agent on TCP 7200 to read configuration and logs — open that port to the server's address only.
1. Install the agent
sudo dnf install ./apache-agent-*.x86_64.rpm
For traffic metrics, Apache must expose mod_status on a local URL:
ExtendedStatus On
<Location "/server-status">
SetHandler server-status
Require local
</Location>
The server also connects in to the agent on TCP 7200. Open it to the ApacheWatch server's address only:
sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-rich-rule='rule family="ipv4" source address="SERVER_IP" port port="7200" protocol="tcp" accept'
sudo firewall-cmd --reload
2. Run the guided setup
sudo apache-agent setup
It asks for the server URL, the base path (/apachemon) and the agent secret shown on the dashboard's Agents page, writes /etc/apache-agent/apache-agent.env, and
tests the connection. Then:
sudo systemctl enable --now apache-agent
Within a few seconds the agent appears on the dashboard's Agents page and its instances start reporting.
Checking an agent
sudo systemctl status apache-agent
sudo journalctl -u apache-agent -f
