Managing Instances

An "instance" in ApacheWatch is one Apache httpd process reporting through a connected agent.

What ApacheWatch monitors per instance

  • Process status — running, stopped, or unknown, with PID
  • Uptime — since last start
  • Health checks — periodic polling of the instance's status
  • Log tailing — access and error log lines streamed to your dashboard

Adding an instance

Instances are discovered automatically when an agent registers — you don't add them by hand. Point your agent's config at the Apache installation you want monitored, enroll the agent (see Agents and Enrollment), and it appears in your dashboard within seconds.

Starting, stopping, and restarting

From an instance's detail panel you can trigger lifecycle commands remotely, without shelling into the box: start, stop, restart, and graceful reload. Results stream back to your dashboard as the agent completes them.

Instance limits by plan

Your plan caps how many instances can be actively monitored at once: Free = 1, Starter = 3, Professional = 10, Enterprise = unlimited. See Billing and Plans.
